My company has hired a thousand software developers
And this is my take.

Overall, BYU offers a far better education. UVU focuses more on actual coding and BYU more on the theory behind software development. The caliber of student at BYU is considerably higher. However, most companies are looking for what you can do and that's based on experience.

My son just dropped out of BYU has a sophomore. He was getting his CS degree but decided instead to join text start up. He says he will finish online. However, once you get the experience, talent and reputation, where you went to school (or even graduating) makes absolutely no difference.
