Your OP nails the cause of speculation, why would BYU not be willing to take
a kid who the Lord will take as a missionary, but BYU won't take him, post mission? The hazing incidents are hogwash for that exact reason, BYU isn't committing to him in 2015, but in 2017, post mission.

My opinion is BYU didn't origianlly offer for the exact reasons they said, they had already committed their OLB schollies and weren't ready to be the first decent D1 offer for PG, which was when the Gustins were ready to accept the offer (even though my source said they weren't 100% committed to take that offer if BYU had made it on that first visit). Shortly after that PG blew up the weight room and the offers started flooding in and he and his Dad vocally distanced themselves from BYU. And BYU has stayed away since. I say chalk it up with a hard headed recruiting position vs. a hard headed recruit.
