i have a weird stance on this i think, but here's my .02:
i grew up with pretty strict tv rules...tv only on friday evenings and saturday. none after school...none on sunday. this obviously excluded the NFL, which wasn't a big deal b/c i grew up in AZ and the lowly cardinals were our team. i grew up attending ASU games that were twice as full as the cardinals game the next day in Sun Devil Stadium. they were one of the most pathetic pro franchises ever.

so i never really felt like i was missing out on much, plus i liked college football more. even today i would find it a bit too easy to slip into a bad habit of watching football on sunday a lot if i became an NFL fan and i believe there are much better things to be doing on that day.

as for "superbowl" parties...i think they are great ways to develop friendships and bonds with family as long as everyone involved enjoys it. if it unites and brings the family together, that's sunday worthy IMHO. still not the "ideal" activity but we can't be in sunday clothes reading scriptures all day long.

having said that, my wife doesn't really like football (she'll watch BYU but nothing else) and my kids aren't into it so i will not be watching.
