Some may be down on BYU recruiting, but I am extremely excited about our WR
Coach and what he has brought to BYU recruiting RE: the great state of Texas!

He has opened doors that BYU has not walked through since the Lavell days. Texas if full of more than enough talent to share. Getting fringe recruits come from Texas beats fringe recruits from Utah and Idaho. Some may take offense to that, but all things being relatively equal I would much rather take a risk on someone that has played Texas HS football than someone from about anywhere else in the country.

Texas recruiting works for BYU because Texas is full of humble, conservative, Christian kids that want to maintain that lifestyle in college. BYU is a great fit for this niche.

Last year we had some transfers from Texas that impacted us right away in Leslie and Jackson. This year West was an amazing get on so many levels. He is one of the best all-purpose backs in the state with great speed. BYU probably doesn't get this kid without Holliday's contacts.

Davis had some solid offers that he skirted for BYU and Simon looks fast and quick on film. Both of these recruits don't even give BYU a chance without Holliday. Hopefully we can lock in Brent, Nwigwe and Jimenez.

BYU recruiting may be bleak to some, but Texas recruiting has me very intrigued.
