Agree:
- BYU will survive
- there are bigger recruiting targets and concerns
- national recruiting is improving
- focus should be on the kids who do choose the Y and this year's class is solid
- non-LDS kids at BYU is a good thing, often worth the risks
- Covey won't play in the NFL (although your post may be the first to raise that prospect)

Disagree:
- Covey is better than you give him credit for; he's an upgrade from the typical BYU smurf
- he lacks the measurables to make him a national target...but the local schools were best positioned to know his ability
- Apo is an LDS kid. More to the point, Covey is likely to have a bigger impact at the college level despite being from Utah
- Your final paragraph acknowledges that kids now see the U as the more exciting destination. That's what the volume of Covey discussion is really about and I think you already understood that but decided to turn most of your post into a straw man argument about the kid's talent.
