BYU housing rush? Yet another signing day...?
My son currently lives near the IPF in off-campus housing and likes the location. He's getting emails from the management company that if he would like to sign a contract for 2015-16 school year and stay where he is, he should sign a new contract by Tuesday at 5. They're claiming that due to the RM situation there is heavy demand for apartments and they can't guarantee his spot if he doesn't renew by Tuesday.

I suppose there is a different dynamic due to the mission age change, but I'm not sure if this is a management company tactic to get kids to commit early, or if he should sign up by Tuesday to cover himself. I think he does want to stay there, so I'm not sure there is a downside, just wondering what CB's opinion is. I don't know if the housing fair on campus is some magic deadline.

Here is part of their email: "If you haven't decided whether or not to renew, remember that all contracts open at the housing fair on BYU campus. After 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015 we cannot guarantee your spot. You can still sign after this date, but only if there is still an opening, so don't hesitate and risk losing your spot!"
