My long report from the game last night
Lots of fun to see so many BYU fans there. I've been to SJSU, Stanford and a few other away games and the Portland had the most BYU fans.

Not sure what they showed on TV, but Skyler was PUMPED. He was yelling, pointing at the BYU crowd (they were on all four sides), he was did the Super-Flex several times... he was just on fire both on his touch and his emotions. There was also a moment in the second half where Skyler set on Defense at the top of the key and gave the crowd a few "get loud" gestures with his arms to help on D. The crowd complied. Hadn't seen him react like that before and it was awesome. Almost...Hawsome.

Portland's arena reminded me of the Smith Field house, especially with a track around and under the bleachers. The seats were comfortable, but the screws were loose and the entire row of seats rocked. Not just my row either. no cupholders -- What are you thinking? Concessions were reasonable and didn't run into traffic.

There were multiple times when it seemed to me the refs had no clue what they were doing. 2 or 3 times, when there was a tangle for the ball, the refs waited for like 2 seconds while guys were fighting on the floor for the ball -- it's like they let them wrestle which seems like a recipe for injury. They missed Collinsworth grabbing a rebound after coming in out of bounds and I don't need to talk about the loose calls in the first and the tight calls (only on BYU) in the second. I didn't see the players get overly frustrated with the whistle-happy calls which was good.

There was a local Portland HS team behind us and they were a bit confused at all the cheering on Haw's 7th point. I got to tell them he was BYU's new scoring leader and they asked who he replaced. I said Jimmer. and they were like...woah. They asked where Ainge was on the list and I told them...even more impressed. They left with about 2 minutes left to play...

4 rebounds away from transforming not just a historic night, to a once-in-a lifetime night.

After the game there were hundreds of BYU fans waiting for the team to try in vain to make their way to the buses. Players were exceptionally free with their time, autographs and jokes even for the hundredth time. I imagine that I would struggle to deal with a constant mob but no these guys.

Got to ask Toolson if he'd do his dance for us and he said he couldn't because he had no idea what his feet were doing at the time. It was so spontaneous and who knows if it'll ever happen again. Must be interested to have complete strangers ask about random things you did that went viral.
During the game I thought I saw several cases where Andrus had an open shot and passed on it. I got to ask him when coach would give him a green light and he said he had it already and that coaches wanted him to shoot whenever he could. We've definitely see more points out of the bigs in the last five games which is great to see. We told Bartley how much we loved having him at BYU and we got to spend a little time with Chatman's and Halfords' families who were in town for the game.
Go to meet Halford (game night hero) and got a picture with coach Rose. Could barely get near Collinsworth and haws.

After about 2 hours BYU needed to send people to drag players the 100 total yards to the buses cause they needed to leave. There were hundreds of fans waiting at the end and Portland security had to close the facility and kick people out. We love our Cougs up here.
