Utah's public lands are what convinced him to look at BYU.
An avid hunter, he said that most of Texas is in private hands and hunters need to know someone or get permission to hunt. When he saw the amount of public lands in Utah, he decided to check out BYU. He liked what he saw and the rest is history.
