If low funds are keeping BYU from having a Top-25 program, then BYU should go ahead and price tickets even higher and risk selling even fewer overall tickets. Since I'm not a "freakin' wealthy CBer" (in TNT's phraseology), I'll give up my seats and stay home. This is the 34th consecutive year my family has renewed our tickets, and if we don't sit in those seats with all their memories, then we aren't going to sit in any seats - except the loveseats in the living room (where we also are building memories).
But if low attendance is BYU's bigger obstacle, then BYU should price tickets at a market-clearing level, and we fans will fill LES.
You may get more money by pricing tickets higher, but you won't fill LES. And you may get less money by pricing tickets lower, but you will fill LES. This is basic economics and has little to do with the "be a real fan and buy [overpriced] tickets" notion that the article is promoting.
