Obviously Kobe's best days are behind him, but even in his prime he didn't have a great FG%. But he got to the free throw line a ton, and that's because he controlled the ball so much. Same with Westbrook. Number of free throw attempts is huge. When you're shooting free throws, you're scoring points while preventing your opponent from playing in transition. If I have a player that gets to the line 10 times a game, I'll forgive a few points off his FG%.
