Musings from the game.
First off, I have been a follower of BYU basketball for about 15 years. I have seen some great games and some terrible games. I missed Jimmer’s junior and senior seasons because I was on my mission and came back the day before they took on Gonzaga in the NCAA tournament. Immediately I kicked right back into my previous fan mode and was going crazy. That being said, personally this is the best victory I have ever seen a BYU basketball team have. The fact that we ended their home win streak and beat them on their senior night is just amazing.

Major credit goes to coach Rose tonight for his coaching and adjustments. Going into the game I thought we would get killed by their bigs and at times we were. Rose had a system going though and it worked because it seemed that at times we were really able to contain their guys and more importantly we were able to get rebounds tonight in a big way. Kaufusi has shown up defensively the last few weeks and it was great to see his development and effort come to fruition on such a huge stage. His all around defense was absolutely needed in the game and his monster block in the second half at a time the zags were finding some needed energy was perfect!

Kyle Collinsworth played a great game and had some of the biggest plays of the season. He is a beast on the boards and absolutely one of the best all around athletes I’ve ever seen.

I am among many on the board that needs to apologize to Halford for not believing in him. Last year I though we should give him walk on status and try to find a shooting guard elsewhere. I could not have been more wrong! He has shown to be a huge piece of this team and his defense on Pangos was a thing of beauty. He stepped up big and filled in the void of Haw’s offense as well.

I think my HCBW about kicked me out of the house because of how loud I was during the game but she realized what this meant to me and let me continue screaming and yelling. I love the cougs and will always cheer for them no matter how good or bad they are. It is games like this that give me huge satisfaction as a fan knowing that the team I follow closer than any other shows up in a huge way and gets an amazing victory over a great team. They put it all together tonight in grand fashion.
