Dave Rose
Dave Rose did a masterful job last night. He had his team come out and play hard nosed defense and that seems to be a theme that has been present the last three games. We have been accused all season of playing little to no defense. But we have upped the ante on that side of the ball.

I think this started when he inserted Sharp in the starting line up. He gives us almost nothing on the offensive side of the court but he plays defense and rebounds. Kaufusi has started to gain a better understanding of how to keep your feet and better position in the defensive position in the paint.

He has played Bartley a lot more and he has given us some bursts of offense but his biggest contribution has been on defense. He makes us quicker to the ball and the kid can jump. When you have Bartley, Winder and Collinsworth on the floor they press the opposition a lot more. Halford plays decent defense as well.

In the game against Gonzaga Rose went with a four guard line up for a lot of the game and that finally forced Few to make a change. Several times BYU guards found themselves being guarded by either Wiltjer or Sabonis. They would draw them away from the basket and then blow by them to the rim. Few had to go away from what had been successful for them all year, playing big, and alter his lineup. It hurt them offensively and allowed BYU to beat them on the boards both overall and offensively.

Year after year I read on this board that Few outcoached Rose. Well last night Rose reversed that and definitely outcoached Few. Congratulations to Dave Rose for a well coached game.
