I've only been on two cruises. Both were Western Caribbean trips.

We like Norwegian. But as long as you stay away from carnival you'll be fine.

If you don't want to leave from Florida you can do a Caribbean cruise f/ Houston

We did one in 2012 on a Carnival ship in Greece ...
