Hey that's me!!!
I am the one who posted that exact same thing on FB today!!! I even live with my girlfriend (now fiance), I drink regularly and yes I am, one could say "inactive" from the church... So I am pretty sure this is me! BUT what Coug203 FAILED to mention is that my religious beliefs have NOTHING to do with me switching over as he may have you believe from this post.
So lets talk about facts... I have been "inactive" from the church for going on 13 years now... during that time I was a season ticket holder for BYU football for 6 of them, I would dare say that since being a season ticket holder I have been to at least 60% of the football games. All this time I was not active, and I was living with my girlfriend and drinking, so I can PROMISE you my religious beliefs have NOTHING to do with me switching sides. What Coug203 failed to mention was the reasons for my switch, which are that I graduated from the U and I have also worked for the U for the past 4 years and well that University has done more for me that BYU has. They have given me a great education, a great job and career path, so as I said in my post I can no longer cheer against them...

I don't know who Coug203 is but obviously a FB friend of mine... So I appreciate the thoughts but lets get the whole truth out there... I did not just switch "out of no where"

Here is my post from FB: This may come as a shock to some and will make others pretty happy, this has come with some serious thought, sleepless nights and an inner struggle I can’t even explain but it is time that I switch alliances. I can no longer cheer for BYU.

I grew up going to BYU football and basketball games with my grandparents who were loyal Cougar Club members; I was a season ticket holder for 6 years and have been a loyal cougar fan (& a Utah hater) my entire life.

This decision has nothing to do with anything BYU has done but more of what the University of Utah has done for me.

I graduated with my degree in Political Science in 2006 from the U of U, it challenged me to think and see things differently, and I grew so much from learning and mingling with different professors and students at the U. I also have now worked at the University of Utah going on 4 years and I LOVE my job, it’s a new challenge every day and I get to work with some of the most amazing people. I take great pride in working for such a fine University and hospital.

I will still hold a special place for BYU and the many memories I made with my family but with everything the University of Utah has done for me I can no longer cheer against them, I owe a lot to this University!!

So with this all being said, I am proud to say that I am a Ute!
