Why Haws struggled vs GU - clutch or non-clutch - here are my thoughts.
(Some of this is part of a response I made earlier on a previous thread).

Gary Bell Jr is a physical defender that uses his strength to punish and push around Haws. Over the past few years, Haws has had a difficult time verses GBJ and other physical players at GU. They have had some athletes that have shut him down and their double teams often mess him up more than normal. He just doesn't play well against them and they get into his head. Yes, he missed some shots and some very critical FTs to put the game away - Does that make him clutch or not clutch!?!? LeBron missed some critical FTs at the end of the Heat-Rockets game and in must win playoff games last year -- does that make him non-clutch!?!? I think debating the clutch-non-clutch label for Haws is actually kind of silly. - but that will never stop CB.
It seems like GU's game plan was to not let TH go off, so they wanted to play him physically. As was mentioned earlier, Bell jr did a really good job doing that. I just don't think Gonzaga expected Halford, Fischer, Collinsworth and others to play like they did. They also didn't expect the strong D. Why would they?!? - WE didn't expect to see that type of D show up for this game (or in most games this season). When all is said and done, GU just didn't expect the others to contribute like they did and our D stepping up.
Haws scoring ability in many games this season (and in the previous ones) has proven he is an amazing scorer. His play has won us MANY games when we didn't have anyone else who could score. Don't you remember those games when TH was on the bench and we wondered who would even take a shot. It was ugly at times. We've come a long way!!
Winder has been a good contributor this season, and his driving ability has been a huge plus. However, I think he has been a little inconsistent since coming back from his injury. Fischer has stepped up in some games but has also been inconsistent this season. We have seen him play well the past several games.
Halford's scoring the past 10-12 games has taken the pressure off Haws feeling like he was the only scoring option at times. I like Halford a lot and think he is finally in his comfort zone.
Bottom line, I think some on CB underestimate how amazing Haws has been for the past several seasons. So he had a bad game - who cares, we won. How many "bad games" has he had in his career? Not very many. We've been spoiled by his scoring consistency. I think we will have some games next year where we will really miss Tyler H's 20 points per game. Let's hope others can step up next week/next year and be as consistent as he has been.
