His dad was a very fast player
One of his biggest strengths as a player was his speed up and down the court. I remember.
And I'll add this, from his player profile back then:
...has recorded times of 10.64 in the 100 meters, 21.39 in the 200 meters, 4.46 in the 40 yard dash, leaped 23-0 1/2 in the long jump and has a 32-inch vertical jump ... placed fifth as a freshman in the WAC 100 meters and went to the NCAA Championships in Louisiana as a member of the 4 X 100 relay team which won the WAC in 1987...
