according to body for life which I think is accurate. there is value in hitting
maximum effort when doing cardio. He calls it hitting a 10. Theory is that it ramps up your metabolism when you put out maximum effort.

Walking, you don't hit a 10.

So, yes they burn the same amount of calories, but you don't get the rewards after the exercise is over if you walk. that's the theory at least and I believe it.
