Update from CC luncheon on video ribbons at LES
One of the guys who spoke works for/with IMG - the sports marketing stuff for the university.

He said starting next year 1/3 of the ribbons would be dedicated to showings stats/scores. Apparently, the old software used to control the ribbons didn't allow that - it was all or nothing. They upgraded the ribbon software to provide that functionality.

He also said they are working on developing a game day app that would allow people to view any of the available replays during the game. (There are always at least 6 cameras running in LES, but with the speed that BYU plays with they have to pick 1 really fast and they have to kind of guess at the quality of the replay due to lack of time.)

HOWEVER, he followed that up by saying that having those replays available would require connectivity. He said the University is working on improving cell service in general - although apparently Sprint did something last year that improved their service during the games.

They have started investigating wifi service in the stadium. I think he said wifi types of upgrade would come after cell service upgrades. So in the next 2 or 3 years it is possible there would be wifi available during the games in stadium.

Coach Pope spoke as well. Nothing earth shattering there. He loves the players. I didn't know/had forgotten that Kaufusi (sp?) played with a collapsed lung during the blue/white game at the beginning of the year.
