I keep getting emails from the company that currently controls my mortgage saying that I should refinance so that I don't have to be paying the mortgage insurance anymore. I completely agree, and the wife and I have been talking about refinancing the last month or two.

My question is, is there a benefit doing the refinance through the mortgage company or should I use the lender that I originally used to purchase the house?

What all goes into refinancing? I should have the 20% now on the house, so that shouldn't be an issue. I just need to get the place appraised?
