Exactly. And one of the main reasons kids don't "explore"
anymore is because parents/adults place so many requirements on the activity. If a kid came to a 2015 parent and told the parent that he/she wanted to explore, the parent, at the risk of being socially chastised or even criminally prosecuted, would feel compelled to sit down with the kid, do a PowerPoint about the dangers, spend 2 hours making sure the kid had insect repellant, proper safety goggles/helmet, a stranger-danger action plan, and other time-sucks that would make the kid ultimately conclude that the planned exploration was not worth the time or hassle.
