As a Virginian, I am glad that your daughter is at UVA, but I do find it interesting that for as many Mormons as there are in Virginia, VERY FEW parents send their kids there (for undergrad, at least)...mostly because it is known as a den of iniquity.

Having grown up as one of the only members at my HS - probably a very typical HS outside of mormondom - BYU was like the Garden of Eden for me. Finally, there were kids like me, WHO WERE LDS. I could have been fine in a typical college environment, but BYU was the right place at the right time for me.

I had a chance to play basketball in college (DIII), but I have never regretted going to Provo. Best life decision (outside of marrying my HCBW) I ever made.
