1. Money! from TV, to concessions, etc. you would lose revenue by shortening like this.
2. Fans. Boring! They woul feel cheated that they go to see Cabrera bat and he never does because they take a lead in the top of the 1st and never look back. And fans like to see exciting offence more than good pitching and defense. Also, I pay and expect to go see a 2 1/2 - 3 hour game and now it may be only 45 min long?
3. Players. I'm an offensive player. That's where my value is and I only get up once? I don't like it. It would place an inordinate emphasis on pitching and defense.
4. Purists would go crazy! We still have people who refuse to recognize the DH in the HOF because it's not the original way it was played. How long ago did the DH come into the AL?
