First, I was mistaken; the 2012 defense was #7 in S&P+, not #13. Secondly, the average defensive S&P+ that season was 103.08, and the standard deviation was 15.76. BYU's was 131.4, almost two standard deviations above the mean. That's excellent. And S&P+ accounts for SOS, so it isn't because of our schedule. Calling that defense "solidly above average" is like calling Stephen Curry a "solidly above average guard." You can try your best to argue with a straight face that such a comment is appropriate, but you are only making yourself look more oblivious and biased.
You are entitled to be as negative as you want. I don't really have a problem with the negativity itself. It's the self-unawareness that I have a problem with. You are negative about this stuff. You should just admit it.
