So a funny thing happened at the Rugby Game today...
My wife, aka The Babe™, accompanied me to the Rugby game today...something that she generally doesn't do. I've taken her to football games over the past 20 years and she really doesn't like it (not for the violence...she used to play hockey, it's because of the fans). Generally it's due to the sub-imbicile cretins that sit around us, yelling at the officials (of which I'm guilty), yelling at the players & coaches, running them & their families down, and generally being painfully obtuse. Every year for the last decade I've convinced her to go to at least one game a year...and for the past 3 years she's only been able to stomach just a half. Last year she didn't even make it until half-time.

So The Babe™ graciously agreed to come to the Rugby game against USU with me... And she loved it! Mind you, this was worse than the equivalent of playing Savanah State...USU is not very good. However, she loved the game, the action, the players, and especially the fans. She actually posted the following on her facebook page: "Attending my first Rugby game today and I'm a fan!! Love the way they protect their teammate when he goes down and lift him up to catch the ball. The players are out there giving their all, with no protection, except each other! Love the way the clock just keeps running...no timeouts every couple of minutes. And WAY LOVE the fans -- everybody is a good sport! I haven't heard a single disparaging remark! This is the perfect spectator sport!"

She asked me before the game was even over when we could go to the next one...I had to tell her that it was the last home game of the year. But I've thought about what she said and realized that I spent an afternoon in the company of some really nice & pleasant people (some of which were even USU Athletic Supporters). The weather was not only beautiful, the people around us made the game very enjoyable.

Now before I offend all of the little girls with what I am about to say (yes, I understand that you have the right and freedom to say pretty much whatever offensive, moronic, stupid thing you want at a game) so suck it up buttercup. I do wish that we treated the fans, players, coaches, opponents, etc. with the same kind of respect that they a) not only deserve but b) that we would want to receive. I know that there are a fair number of people who sit around us in the South End Zone that I keep praying follow through on all of their threats to never renew their tickets and stop coming to the game. Seriously, my game day experience would be way better with only a few things: caffinated beverages, reduce the annoying banner adds, and the removal of a number of these kinds of [insert word here that won't get me banned that describes lower forms of life with limited mental capacity].

Look, I don't really care what you say on CougarBoard. I don't have to read it if I don't want to (and most of the time I don't want to...some of you are personally responsible for spiking my productivity). But when you are in the confines of the stadium, running your pie-hole constantly about how you know more about which players should be playing, the defense schema we should be running, the offensive plays that are called, the players, coaches, etc. is not a good thing. Shut your mouth...write a book if you have to, but seriously, stop talking. I wish that the wifi in the stadium gets fixed primarily so these guys will be posting/texting/snapchatting instead of talking...

TL/DR -- We should make the game experience much more like Rugby and less like football...aka enjoyable.
