Thinking of going to Greece next year and taking a few days to go down to Istanbul. Have only seen pictures which look amazing but not sure how safe it is. (would by my wife and I) Just starting to research things but wondering if anybody has thoughts on Istanbul, and if you'd recommend it?

Other option we are interested in would be Barcelona and through Spain and then over into Portugal. Just starting the initial research into the options but any suggestions would be appreciated.
