Interesting depth chart development
This was the tight end depth chart from Greg Wrubell. The rumor is the tight end position will be brought back into focus this season. Here's a look at the personnel:

1) Steven Richards - The good news is that he's an RM freshman and appears to have moved up on the depth chart just based on spring ball. He didn't play any Dline in high school, so this move makes sense (he was an all-state tight end). He redshirted in the fall. He looks like he doesn't shy away from contact, so he might not be a liability as a blocker. He's only 6'3", so is smaller than past players. He's a dark horse candidate to get lots of playing time.
2) Bryan Sampson - Helped win the spring game before his mission when he caught the game winning 2 point conversion. He was seemingly the heir apparent to the starting position. He's waited his turn as a redshirt junior. He seems like more of a tweener listed at 221 pounds.
3) Tanner Balderree - Another position switch from the defense who burned his redshirt against Savanna State. He's more of a 4-3 defensive end, so it makes sense to try him at tight end.
4) Colby Jorgensen - Was an athletic freak in high school and is really big at 6'7". He's battled injuries, so he might have some ability to move up into the 2 deep.

Not listed:
5) Matt Sumsion - It's rumored that he's battling injuries, but he might be better suited to bulk up and play tackle, since he's 6'8" 250 already.
6) Jackson Kaka - He's the NMSU transfer who is listed at 210 pounds. I doubt he contributes at that weight.
7) MLP - He isn't playing spring ball because he just got back from his mission earlier in March. The rumor is he needs to gain weight, but he has dynamic receiving skills. Send him to Wintrich and he might have the greatest potential of anyone in this group to be a star.
