I'm simply commenting on the tendency to judge a person solely by their experience, or lack thereof. Plenty of good coaches have had little/no experience before being hired/promoted and plenty of bad coaches have had lots of experience. Judge them on their performance, not on their resume. You won't find a single post from me ever defending Howell's performance. Go ahead, I challenge you to find one. But I have scoffed at the criticism of him being based on his lack of experience. By that logic, all you need to be a better coach is experience - which means firing someone for poor performance is stupid because they are bound to be better next year, and even better the following year.
