My biggest issue with Peter Jackson's LOTR & Hobbit movies is his over the top
depiction of fight scenes, battles, caves, and sometimes cities.

Fight Scenes
- Legolas riding shields, jumping on barrels in a river, riding large creatures so they knock towers down perfectly to make a bridge to where he needs to go, back to enemy twirling knives death moves, and more and more and more (you get the idea)
- Bard riding a wagon down a street with stairs and going perfectly over his kids so they don't get hit with the wheels (because he has perfect control of the old wagon/cart thing of course). Then he rides it perfectly into the enemy that was about to kill his children.
-There are many other examples but I will leave I at that.

Battles
-Never ending seas of orcs as far as the eye can see... until they magically disappear when the good guys need to win the battle.

Caves and cities
-The mines of moria scene where there are never ending gigantic pillars. How would that room even be used? You can have amazing pillars without going overboard.
-The lonely mountain that has the most amazing labyrinth of stairs, towers, and rooms that never end. Again, it was an amazing dwarven city in the mountain but the movie was way over done. Same with the gold inside. The book gave me an impression of a huge mound of riches but the movies had endless mounds of riches. Even Scrooge McDuck would have laughed at Peter Jackson's portrail of the riches.

In closing, everything was way over the top. I think Tolkien's world was already amazing without the extra sensationalism that Peter Jackson brought to most aspects of the movie. Which reminds me... The only movie that comes close to Peter Jackson's use of characters staring at each other in slow motion for hours on end is Meet Joe Black. Thankfully Meet Joe Black did it in real time instead of slow motion.

In closing of the closing, I still really liked the LOTR movies despite its imperfections. But it could have been so much better. Leave me now so I can cry in my pillow and call TNT for consolation for only he can understand my pain.
