Wal-Mart fired me when I was 17.
I worked the graveyard stocking shelves. A new guy was brought in as the manager, and he made no bones that he wanted to move up. I liked the job, and there was a cute girl a couple years older who I flirted with. One night the manager caught us chatting, and he pulled me and asked why I wasn't tired and covered in sweat like most of the other employees. I told him it was because I wasn't fat and old. Then he told me that me and Wal-Mart were going in different directions. It took me a minute to realize what he meant by that.
