BYU doesn't want UVU on the schedule, and here's why:
Many UVU students/grads are BYU fans. Attending UVU has always been like attending a DII school, playing CBB but never really in direct competition with BYU, which made it okay to be an active supporter of both the Wolverines and the Cougars. But once BYU starts playing UVU, battle lines will be drawn and BYU basketball will lose supporters (even if it is only a few initially). Many here have suggested BYU offer ROC passes to UVU students as a way of growing the fan base because those college kids are potential future season ticket holders (which I support). This won't be nearly as effective for generating revenue if all of the sudden kids are growing up in Utah Valley rooting for one team or the other. BYU has to continue being the main event while UVU is a side show, so people feel like they can actively support both.
