I have completely changed my mind on this - the high-five was completely
appropriate to do with the lesbian.

I have discovered that the very first known high-five was given by Los Angeles Dodger Glenn Burke to teammate Dusty Baker in 1977. Glenn Burke later, in 1982, became the first former major league baseball player to openly declare his homosexuality.

It is definitely a gay thing.
