RE: Troy Adams has a very interesting take on conference realignment - including
B1G will lead the next wave, and like was mentioned, I think they go for UVA. It is a top-notch school in a state with many eye-balls. Yes, the is a GoR issue, but like Maryland I think the B1G will find away ($ can make agreements go away).

Then it's between Vandi, Kansas, or Mizzou.

My bet is Mizzou will be the one they go after, and though Mizzou is having success in the SEC, it seems their hearts are still wanting the association in the B1G over athletic success in the SEC. Mizzou also fits the geography best, and re-kindles the rivalry with Illinois.

From there it's only guesses...

UVA leaving the ACC, and Mizzou creating a void in the SEC, my guess is VT pushes hard to go to the SEC. They like the Southern affiliation and is more concerned with being mentioned with the football excellence of the SEC. WVU pushes to get into the ACC (they preferred ACC affiliation over BigXII before, and mostly still do ala Mizzou and the B1G)' and is reconnected to their biggest rival Pitt.

UCONN rounds out the ACC replacements. To get to 16, though I bet the ACC holds out as ND finally gets cornered into a conference.

OU/OSU flirted pretty hard with the SEC a couple years back but ultimately backed off. OU is getting a bit frustrated with Texas and is starting to have some desires for separation. Thus, along with the success Mizzou and aTm are having in the SEC, OU/OSU end up in the SEC.

This makes the B1G, ACC, and the SEC 16 league teams. The Pac12 will push for Texas, or not expand and stay at 12. If they don't get Texas (and some "others"), I bet they stay content and stick their noses up to the other conferences and their 16 team dreams.

So, Texas will have a choice from: get 3 teams to replace WVU, OU, and OSU to keep the BigXII running; leave for the Pac12 with some "other schools"; or leave the BigXII (and maybe some friends within the conference) and have the BIgXII die...then (re)create a new conference.
