Some choose to worship this apparent god. Others see him as the harbinger of destruction that happened to metropolis. Luthor definitely is part of the latter. We hear him in the trailer. Batman initially is in the second camp. I think the first half is batman trying to bring down superman then a larger threat comes out where they need to work together.
