was younger and stronger and turned to roids to overcome injury at some point. And I imagine he spent the last year working out, hitting the cage, etc.

I'm not defending him per se, as I hate the Yankees and I've never really cared for A-Rod, but the facts are that he was a power hitter from a young age, long before he bulked up. He has an incredible natural baseball talent.
