People have repeatedly shown they will sacrifice quality for convenience
And price. It's why McDonalds and Walmart do well and why Redbox and Netflix put larger video stores out of business.
If people decide that ala carte streaming is cheaper or more convenient than DirectTv, I think they may be willing to overlook some of the reliability problems.
