I was having a conversation recently regarding paying student athletes. This individual talked about how everyone (P5) is looking at this issue right now with only a 3-5 year window. They aren't looking on ways to sustain paying their athletes. As a result, some ADs are afraid and worried about Olympic Sports because those have more athletes than basketball and football combined. He then said that BYU is going to pay athletes, but every athlete will get a cut, not just revenue athletes. Obviously some sports will get more than others, but he said everyone will get something- they are just looking how they can do this every year. We all acknowledge that we (BYU) are operating in the black right now, and he said the same thing, but that 5-6 million can go quickly if they aren't smart.

This person I was talking to is very "in the know" at BYU. Anyway, he said BYU is prepared to do what it takes in terms of paying athletes. Could this be why Bronco is saying we need/will be in a P5 conference soon?
