The fact that it is constantly debated is proof that the issue is not so cut-and-dry as you suggest. Indy is fine for now, superior to MWC even, but I would not be shocked if BYU ended up back in a G5 conference at some point. Indy is not a stable place to be, and that instability is what makes the aforementioned scenarios at least plausible.

My final comment that you "LOL'd" at was not so much to troll, but to raise the question of whether or not the MWC was seen as horrible because it is horrible, or because your old pal Utah would be in a clearly better conference.
