about? There isn't a soul around these parts that thinks BYU is in as good of a position as Utah. We would ALL trade positions with Utah in a heartbeat. On the other hand, with independence, BYU has a path towards being a P5-type program. We're part way there already. Of course, Utah is all the way there as a member of the Pac12. BYU will have to scratch and claw our way to full P5-type status, and it may take a number of years to get there, if we ever do.
As to your second point, BYU's 2015 schedule is currently predicted to be just a small amount more difficult than Utah's (both top 15 strength of schedule). It's a legit, big-boy schedule. It's a schedule that will earn BYU a ton of respect if we can pull off a bunch of wins (remains to be seen, of course). Future schedules are also looking very good. As with the money situation, it may take a while before BYU is playing 8-10 P5 teams per year. However, the schedules are already good enough to provide a path for BYU to earn some serious respect if we can pull off the wins.
