IDK if it is apples:oranges, but YouTube does well enough

ESPN3 (or the WatchESPN app) does pretty well. IDK if there are issues with the infrastructure that would make this possible, but I've watched HD-quality live stream events for a couple of years now (on a so-so 5 mbps internet connection) without more than one or two major hangups.
