and 99% of those who hyphenate blacks aren't doing it to be offensive in fact it's ironicslly offensive when you consider most blacks have been Americans longer than many whites with grandparents who recently emigrated from another country, yet they are not hyphenated.
It's not racist to refer to black people as blacks. Just like it's not racist to call white people whites. Why not refer to whites as "European-Americans"? Because most of us white people haven't even stepped foot on European soil let alone come from there.
Again, I know you mean well but at some point people need to let the AA thing go, unless they are actually from Africa which in most cases blacks are multi generational Americans.
