What made the fight great wasn't the fight itself. It was the fact that people
all over the country got together with friends, ate a bunch of food, drank a bit, and had a great time. I couldn't believe how many people told me they were either throwing a party or going to a party. The fight itself didn't even matter unless you were at home watching it by yourself. Then it would have been boring.

All the talk about it being a waste of money or a bad fight or bad for boxing are missing the reality of it all. If boxing scheduled another big fight and marketed it like crazy and charged $100 for the fight on pay per view, people would do it all over again just for the social aspect.

Was the fight worth it? Absolutely. It was a great night. It didn't really matter if it was the Super Bowl, World Series, or even a rerun of The Love Boat.
