Say the nations electric grid goes down (see link) what would you do?
Lead story on Foxnews is about the threat of nationwide power loss due to an attach on the electric grid - cyber attack, solar storm or nuclear weapon detonated in space: "North American Aerospace Defense Command is looking for ways to protect itself in the event of a massive electromagnetic pulse, or EMP, attack -- a deliberate burst of energy that could disrupt the electrical grid and cripple NORAD's ability to defend the nation. "What it could do, these various threats, is black out the U.S. electric grid for a protracted period of months or years," warned Peter Pry, executive director of the EMP Task Force, a bipartisan congressional commission. "Nine out of ten Americans could die from starvation, disease and societal collapse, if the blackout lasted a year." http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/05/04/military-eyeing-former-cold-war-mountain-bunker-as-shield-against-emp-attack/

It seems like we've been hearing a lot about this recently. So in light of this type of possibility and of course food storage teaching for years, I'm curious how Cbers would react in such a situation as above:

1. Would you hole up in your current residence and try to ride it out? Or would you get out of the city (where disease would be much more prevalent due to masses of people, no sewage system and running water and where societal collapse would occur quickly) and head for the hills or a more rural area? (where there would be streams, hunting, fewer people but more exposure to elements, etc)

2. Do you have supply of gasoline on hand to get you out of town should you decide to flee the city?

I grew up on a farm and if the above happened my initial thoughts would be to try and get back there......even though its 14 hours away, but having cows and hunting and the creeks there would provide plenty of food and water for the long-term. Plus being in a rural place like that you know the neighbors and know they also have food storage and I think there would be a high liklihood of banding together to survive versus every man for himself in a city (Phoenix) where I live.

I'm not a doomsday prepper sort but the article on the front page made me wonder a bit how we'd react. We have a good supply of food storage but there are a lot of other things that would come into play versus just food.....
