When I was 13 I took $65 I had saved up from various things (paper route, mowing laws, raking leaves, pulling weeds, shoveling snow) and went to a local used appliance store. I put that money down on a 19" color TV, being allowed to pay the other half with monthly payments. Then I put a splitter on the cable and ran a line to my room. Then I saved up $125 and bought a NES which my mom forced me to return because she didn't want me vegging on video games.
