plenty of years when the highest rated team within a conference will lose their conference championship game. If this happens to more than 1 conference in the same year, the big 12 will be well-positioned to not only make the playoff, but have more than 1 team in the 4 team playoff. In fact, I would say prior to championship game weekend this last year, Big 12 had the highest likelihood of any conference to have more than 1 team make the playoff. If say, Arizona beats Oregon a 2nd time, and Florida State doesn't squeak out a victory against Georgia Tech, then both Baylor and TCU are in.
