Our last defensive back drafted was in 1993.
Almost 1/3 of the players taken in this year's draft were wide receivers and defensive backs. Yet BYU as a school has had exactly 2 wide receivers and 2 defensive backs drafted in the last 25 drafts. This suggests an institutional problem not just a Bronco problem.
Not to say Bronco is perfect. Missions do stink for development, and Bronco is coaching more RMs than any BYU coach in recent history. However, we still should be doing better developing talent in areas where missions aren't as prohibitive in making the NFL such as the offensive line.
To me, the correct answer is all of the above. We don't recruit well enough. We don't retain nonRMs well enough. We do not develop the RMs that we have well enough.
