If it wasn't steroids, it was amphetamines.
As for Bonds, he was the best player in baseball for the decade of the nineties. Certainly steroids helped him prolong his career, but he completely changed his swing and his approach upon moving to Pac Bell Park. He became a complete pull hitter and he elevated balls a lot more, rather than slashing line drives. This probably affected his numbers at least as much as steroid use. Any list that does not include him is a sham.
