it's not really close. paul shirley wrote a book a few years ago where he talks
about this. they're all looking for the ten day contract, hoping to stick with the league. the nba league MINIMUM is $507,336. it goes up based on number of years in the league. a ten year vet, for example, gets $1,448,490. getting a rented house to live in and a car you don't own don't compare to real money.

this is why the quality in the league isn't always as high as we'd like it to be. rather than have vets that play at a higher level, they can't afford them, so they keep young guys with no experience, but can be there at a cheaper price.

these are the HIGHEST paid players in europe: http://www.talkbasket.net/salaries. an nba vet gets more money in the nba at the minimum than the 18th highest paid player in all of europe. the other thing that kills them is the taxes they pay over there.
