Bronson Kaufusi Motivation:
I don't know what motivates Bronson Kaufusi, but here's an approach I'll take because I think Bronson has a ton of potential (but has yet to live up to his level of talent).

Bronson is tall, large, quick, fast, and agile with a tremendous wing span. He has everything necessary to make him a FREAK college football athlete, and a high NFL draft pick.

However...

Bronson repeatedly looks superior to lesser opponents, but when it comes to someone of his own level of talent, he shrinks into the background. For example, he was repeatedly beaten whenever Utah State's OL Whippy (IMO, an NFL talent) got a hold of him. Whippy would get into his pads, and then Bronson was done for the play. He has shown up as the weaker opponent, unable to break free from blocks or to move the OL backwards.

It's obvious that he's been able to coast through much of his life (at least physically) related to his highly talented athleticism. He gives the same 50-80% effort that has gotten him by the majority of the lesser opponents in his life (which is most anybody he lines up against). I'm not one to call out another's preparation, but there's room to suggest this sort of effort occurs in the weight room as well. You put in half-hearted efforts and you'll get half-hearted results. I've yet to see him tap into his "Jeckel" side, and go completely ape-crazy on opponents. I believe he has the ability to take his game to another level that is night and day difference from what he's been producing. I think he has the ability to completely take control of a game much like J.J. Watt at the college football level. Living in Houston and associating with trainers for J.J. Watt, Watt achieves what he has in the NFL because not only is he a freak athlete, but he is a freak when it comes to his preparation (diet, rest, rehabilitation, lifting, stretching, cardio, etc.). Bronson can achieve similar accolades this year if he wants it bad enough. I just don't think he wants it that bad, which is too bad because we'll probably seem the same Bronson this year. Lots of talent, lots of hype, lots of production against UConn and the like with a disappearing magic trick against UCLA, Nebraska, Utah State, Michigan, Boise State, Mizzou, etc. Of course he'll get his highlight reel, but it will be against lesser opponents and against greater opponents on their off play or due to some sort of miscommunication.

Another problem that I observed last year against Nevada is he sometimes gets these "gator arms" when going up to block the pass, which would result in him completely missing a deflectable ball. Get your freakishly long body (including your arms) completely extended!! And, don't forget to jump!! Its important to coordinate the two: jumping and extending arms.

I'm finished with my rant. Bronson, you can pound me if you want to, but once again, it won't be saying much because I'm a buck eighty-five with average height. The sky is your limit, and I hope for your benefit, you find the joy that comes from putting all you have into something. I won't minimize everything you're balancing in life, and only the Lord and those that go through collegiate athletics at a big time program while married know how challenging it is. But, you can do it and you'll never regret putting in your all.
