Navy moves to the AAC this year and if it won the conference title and was the highest-ranked G5 champion, it would earn the guaranteed slot in a NY6 bowl.
The Army-Navy game has and will be played after all other CCG are concluded. A Navy win or loss could affect its ranking but the NY6 selection will have been made five days before. Its possible The committee could err on the side of caution, if Navy were in contention, and chose the next in line because the final CFP ranking will be released on Dec. 7. The Army-Navy game is on Dec. 12.
The AD's response:
"If it means that we've got to sacrifice the opportunity to participate in the playoff system, then that's something we'll have to deal with,"
