Obviously 13% would be incredible to average over your lifetime... you'd be very wealthy. That being said, I think everyone's been getting at least that since 2009.

I should add that I believe the stocks in my fund tend to be less volatile

Make him nervous. Ask him to provide you with comparisions to major benchmarks.
